About this tool

Turn "I'll study later" into a plan

The hardest part of exam prep isn't the studying — it's working out how to fit everything into the days you have left. This study hours planner turns a vague sense of panic into a concrete schedule. Tell it your exam date and how many hours a day you can realistically study, then add each subject with its difficulty and how many chapters or topics it covers, and it maps out exactly how to spend your time.

It estimates the effort each subject needs using a simple difficulty model — roughly an hour and a half per chapter for easy material, two and a half for medium, and four for hard — and subtracts any hours you've already put in. Summing across all your subjects gives the total hours you need, which it lays beside the time you actually have (days remaining multiplied by your daily hours) so the picture is honest.

From there it builds a daily schedule, dividing each subject's remaining hours across the days left to show a suggested hours-per-day per subject. If your available time falls short of what's needed, it raises a clear warning with the size of the gap — your cue to add study hours, start sooner, or focus on the subjects that matter most rather than discovering the crunch the night before.

Planning this way reduces stress, prevents last-minute cramming, and makes sure no subject gets neglected. It works for a single big exam or a whole exam season with several papers. Everything is calculated privately in your browser, so your plan stays yours. Pair it with the countdown timer to keep your exam date front of mind, and the grade calculator to set a target worth aiming for.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does the study planner estimate hours?

For each subject you add its difficulty and the number of chapters or topics. The planner allocates roughly 1.5 hours per chapter for easy subjects, 2.5 for medium and 4 for hard, then subtracts any hours you've already studied. It sums these into the total hours you need before the exam.

How does it build my daily schedule?

It divides each subject's remaining hours by the number of days left until your exam, giving a suggested hours-per-day for each subject. It also compares your total available time (days left × your daily study hours) against the total needed, and warns you if you're short on time.

What if I don't have enough time before the exam?

If your available hours are less than what's required, the planner shows a warning with the gap. Your options are to increase your daily study hours, start earlier, focus on the highest-weight or weakest subjects first, or trim lower-priority topics. Seeing the shortfall early is exactly what helps you adjust.

Can I plan for multiple subjects at once?

Yes. Add a row for every subject or exam you're preparing for, each with its own difficulty and chapter count. The planner produces a combined total and a per-subject daily breakdown, so you can balance your time across everything you're studying.

Is my data private?

Yes. The planner runs entirely in your browser and your subjects and schedule are never uploaded or stored.
