About this tool

Stay on the right side of the attendance rule

For many students, attendance is as nerve-wracking as grades — fall below the required percentage and you can be barred from exams. This attendance calculator takes the anxiety out of it with three modes that answer the three questions every student asks: where do I stand, how many classes can I skip, and how many must I show up to.

The first mode is the simplest: enter how many classes you've attended and how many were held, set your required minimum (75% by default, the common rule at Indian colleges), and it shows your attendance percentage with a clear status — safe, at risk, or below the requirement. The colour-coded message tells you instantly whether you can relax or need to act.

The second mode, how many can I miss, is for when you're comfortably above the line and want to know your buffer. Given your attended and total classes and the minimum, it calculates how many more sessions you can afford to skip while staying at or above the threshold — handy for planning around a trip, illness or event without risking your exam eligibility.

The third mode, how many must I attend, is for when you're below or close to the line. Enter your current attendance, the classes remaining in the term, and the minimum, and it tells you the fewest remaining classes you must attend to recover — or warns you honestly if even perfect attendance can't get you there in time. Everything runs privately in your browser, so your figures never leave your device. Pair it with the study planner to make the most of the classes you do attend.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is attendance percentage calculated?

Attendance percentage is the number of classes you attended divided by the total classes held, multiplied by 100. For example, 60 attended out of 80 held is 75%. Enter your attended and total classes and the calculator shows your percentage and whether you're above, near, or below your required minimum.

What is the 75% attendance rule?

Many Indian colleges and universities require at least 75% attendance to be allowed to sit final exams, and some courses worldwide set similar minimums. The default threshold here is 75%, but you can change it to match your institution's rule — 80%, 85% or whatever applies to you.

How many classes can I miss and stay above the minimum?

Use the 'how many can I miss' mode: enter the total classes held so far and how many you've attended, plus the minimum percentage required, and the calculator works out how many more classes you can skip while keeping your overall attendance at or above the threshold.

How many classes must I attend to reach the requirement?

Use the 'how many must I attend' mode: enter your current attended and total classes, the number of classes still remaining in the term, and your required minimum. It tells you the minimum number of the remaining classes you must attend — or warns you if the target is no longer reachable.

Is my data private?

Yes. All calculations happen in your browser and your attendance figures are never uploaded or stored.
