How many millilitres are in a litre?

How do I convert litres to gallons?
One US gallon is about 3.785 litres and one UK (imperial) gallon is about 4.546 litres — they're different sizes. The converter lists both, so a 10-litre container is roughly 2.64 US gallons or 2.20 UK gallons. Always check which gallon a recipe or spec means.
Are US and UK pints the same?
No. A US pint is about 473 mL while a UK (imperial) pint is about 568 mL — the imperial pint is roughly 20% larger. This matters for drinks and recipes, so the converter keeps US and UK measures separate.
