How does the resume match tool work?
It compares your resume against a specific job description entirely in your browser. It auto-detects the role's domain, pulls out the keywords and skills the posting asks for, splits them into must-have and nice-to-have, then checks your resume for each — combining keyword match, skills, experience and education into a single 0–100% compatibility score with matched terms highlighted in both texts.
Is the resume match free and private?
Yes. It's completely free with no account, and it runs 100% client-side — your resume and the job description never leave your device. There's no AI call and no upload, so you can use it on confidential documents safely. You can also download the full report as a PDF.
What's the difference between must-have and nice-to-have keywords?
The tool reads the context around each keyword in the job description. Terms mentioned alongside words like 'preferred', 'a plus', 'bonus' or 'nice to have' are classified as nice-to-have; everything else is treated as a must-have requirement. Must-have keywords are weighted more heavily in your score because missing them is more likely to hurt your application.
How is the experience and education match estimated?
For experience, the tool looks for a stated requirement like '5+ years' in the job description and compares it to the years it can infer from your resume. For education, it detects the highest degree level mentioned in the posting (bachelor's, master's, PhD) and checks whether your resume meets it. These are heuristics to guide tailoring, not a formal eligibility check.
How is this different from the ATS Score Checker?
