About this tool

How to generate meta tags for your website

Meta tags are the small pieces of HTML in a page's <head> that tell search engines and social networks how to present it. Get them right and your link earns a clean, clickable search snippet and a polished preview card when it's shared. A meta tag generator removes the guesswork: fill in the form and it assembles correct, properly-escaped tags for SEO, Open Graph and Twitter Cards, which you copy straight into your page.

Start with the title and description — the headline and snippet in Google results — keeping them within the recommended lengths the counters show. Then set the Open Graph tags (title, description, image and URL) that control Facebook and LinkedIn previews, and the Twitter Card tags for X. Leave a social field blank and it sensibly falls back to your SEO values, so you only fill in what's different.

The live previews show a Google result and Facebook and Twitter share cards as you type, so you can tune everything before publishing. When it looks right, copy the generated HTML or download it as a snippet. It all runs in your browser with no account and no cost.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What meta tags do I need for SEO?

At minimum, a unique title tag (the clickable headline in search results), a meta description (the snippet beneath it), a canonical link to avoid duplicate-content issues, and the charset and viewport tags every page needs. Beyond those, Open Graph and Twitter Card tags control how your link looks when shared. This generator builds all of them from one form and previews how they'll appear.

How long should my title and description be?

Keep the title around 50–60 characters so Google doesn't truncate it, and the description around 150–160 characters. The tool shows a live character counter for both and turns red when you exceed the recommended length, so you can trim before publishing. Front-load your most important keywords in case the snippet is cut.

What are Open Graph tags?

Open Graph (og:) tags tell Facebook, LinkedIn and other platforms how to render your link when it's shared — the title, description, image and URL of the preview card. Without them, social platforms guess, often badly. Set og:title, og:description, og:image and og:url and you control exactly how your link looks. The generator falls back to your SEO title and description if you leave the OG fields blank.

What's the difference between Open Graph and Twitter Cards?

They do the same job for different platforms. Open Graph is the standard used by Facebook, LinkedIn and most others; Twitter Cards are X's own format, set with twitter: meta tags. X will fall back to Open Graph if Twitter tags are missing, but setting both — including the card type, like summary_large_image — gives you the most control over the preview on every platform.

Can I preview how my page looks in Google?

Yes. As you type, the tool renders a live Google search-result preview (title, URL and description), plus Facebook and Twitter share-card previews using your Open Graph and Twitter values and image URL. It's a fast way to see and tune your snippet before you copy the generated HTML into your page's <head>.
