How long will my mobile data last?

Enter how much data you have in GB and roughly how many hours a day you spend on each activity, and the calculator works out how many days the data will last. It adds up your daily usage from streaming, social media, calls and browsing, then divides your total data by that daily figure. The activity using the most data is highlighted so you know where it is going.

How much data does YouTube use per hour?

It depends on the quality. Roughly: 144p uses about 36 MB per hour, 360p about 180 MB, 720p HD about 600 MB, and 1080p Full HD about 1.5 GB per hour. The calculator uses about 3 GB per hour for HD and 0.7 GB for standard definition as practical averages. Lowering streaming quality is the single biggest way to save data.

How much data do I need per month?

Switch to the How much do I need tab, enter your daily hours for each activity, and the tool estimates your daily and monthly data needs and suggests a plan size. As a rough guide, light users (browsing and messaging) need 1 to 3 GB a month, while heavy HD streamers can need 50 GB or more.

Are the data usage figures exact?

They are careful averages, not exact measurements. Actual usage varies with video resolution, app settings, network quality and how much content loads. Use the results as a planning guide rather than a precise meter, and check your phone's built-in data usage screen for your real numbers.
